Just Biscotti grew out of a long career of caring about, and creating, delicious, nurturing food. The food industry was my home for several years in Washington, DC, developing unique menu ideas while meeting with clients and then dabbling in the kitchen with the chef to make them not just good, but utterly delectable. Then after several more years of event planning in the corporate world (from the other side), I decided to take my passion for food beyond just thinking about it, creating it and tasting it, but sharing it. What could be better? Well, when it comes right down to it, savory is good but a little sweet IS better!

You know those tricky moments -- first thing in the morning, mid afternoon, just after a meal or even late at night, when what to nibble on is the question. What do you do -- eat a donut, the last piece of cake or pie in the fridge, leftover holiday candy? The answer is biscotti -- suitable any time of day and an easy snack on the go. Limited availability, often less than satisfying flavor and value for the price presented a challenge that I was willing to take on.

Thoughts about what would be appealing -- homemade, healthier (without all the preservatives and unknown ingredients) and delicious turned out to be an array of very distinctive tastes. A few flavors give nod to the traditional idea of biscotti, others are quite adventurous. I wanted something that was elegant enough to share, pleasurable to eat and truly satisfying to the senses (without too much guilt).
